Who we are
Bark & Ride is run by Two Cents (Pty) Ltd (registration number 2026/589042/07), 20 St George, 22 Campground Road, Rosebank, Cape Town, 7700. You can reach us at [email protected].
The service
We run scheduled dog adventures in Cape Town: we collect your dog from your pickup address, take them on a published outing with a Bark & Ride handler, and bring them home. Each trip has a date, a destination and up to eight seats. Booking, payments and live updates happen in the Bark & Ride app; this website takes no bookings.
Pickup times start as an estimated window and are confirmed the evening before the trip, once the shared route is planned. We collect only within our pickup area.
You and your dog
- You must be 18 or older and the owner of the dog, or have the owner's permission to book for them.
- Your dog must be healthy, fit to travel and walk, and able to be around other dogs.
- Please tell us the truth in your dog's profile, especially the handling and care notes. Handlers rely on them to keep every dog safe.
- We may decline or turn back a dog who is unwell, in season, or not safe with the group that day. If we do, you won't be charged for that adventure.
Booking and paying
Prices are per dog, in South African Rand, and are set out on our prices and booking conditions. Prices include VAT where it applies.
Single adventures and first adventures are paid when you book. Payments are processed securely by Payfast; we never see or store your card number. A booking is confirmed only once Payfast confirms the payment.
We may change our prices for future bookings. A price you've already paid, or a Founding Pack price lock, doesn't change.
Memberships
A membership gives your dog a seat on fixed weekday(s) each month, as a set number of adventures. It's billed monthly in advance to your saved card, after the last adventure of the previous month. Unused adventures expire at the end of each month, and you can pause for up to 14 days a year. The details are in the booking conditions.
You can end your membership at any time in the app or by emailing us. It stops before your next billing date and you keep the adventures you've already paid for that month.
On the day
- Have your dog ready, on a lead, at your confirmed pickup time. The van keeps a schedule for every dog on board.
- If your dog isn't ready when the handler arrives, or no one is there, the adventure counts as a no-show.
- Please make sure someone can receive your dog at drop-off. If we can't reach you, we'll call your emergency contact.
Care and emergencies
Our handlers look after your dog as if they were their own. If your dog is hurt or falls ill on a trip, we'll contact you straight away, and your emergency contact if you don't answer. If we can't reach either of you and your dog needs urgent care, you agree that we may take them to the nearest vet. Vet costs are yours, unless the injury was caused by our negligence.
Photos
We take photos on adventures to show you how your dog's day is going. We'll only use photos of your dog in our marketing if you've said yes.
Responsibility
We take reasonable care with every dog in our care. We're responsible for loss or harm that our negligence causes. We're not responsible for things outside our reasonable control, or for harm that comes from information you didn't give us about your dog.
Nothing in these terms takes away your rights under the Consumer Protection Act or other South African law.
Changes and law
If we change these terms, we'll update this page and the date at the top, and tell members before a change affects them. South African law applies to these terms.
